Rizzio is a well-known figure in the New England music scene, recognized for her award-winning songwriting. She creates original alt-country music that draws inspiration from her Texas upbringing and her years in Nashville. Now based on the shores of Cape Cod, Rizzio is a versatile musician who tours across the country with her band and plays fiddle for folk legend Tom Rush. She earned her degree in vocal performance from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Music has been a constant in Nicky’s life from an early age. Growing up in Mattapoisett, she was inspired by her father’s piano playing, which sparked a lifelong passion for music. She began violin lessons at age seven, later picked up the trumpet to join the school marching band, and balanced her time between the high school drama club and performing with the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra.
After college, Nicky expanded her musical horizons by learning bass and playing in a local band. Her journey took her to Florida for ten years before returning to Massachusetts with her husband, Brian, and their son, Sam.
Nicky is thrilled to be part of the Washashore Music team as both an instructor and our new administrator, helping keep the studio running smoothly while sharing her love of music with students of all ages and backgrounds. She is committed to fostering creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for music in the next generation.

Abby is an award-winning, classically trained pianist with 37 years of experience and over 20 years of teaching experience. She has performed as a soloist and with ensembles like the Vienna Trio and the Vellichor Duo in New England. Abby's teaching style is adaptable to the unique learning style of each student, from beginners to advanced students preparing for performances. While she values a strong foundation in classical training and sight reading, she also explores various genres with her students. She teaches basic song composition, playing by ear, playing from a chord chart, and more, based on a student's preferences and goals. Abby encourages her students to discover the joy of making music with others, especially in small ensembles. Outside of playing the piano, Abby enjoys spending time with her three kids and German Shepherd, as well as engaging in activities such as cycling, rowing, sailing, camping, and reading.

Jeffrey is delighted to join the team at Washashore Music. Recently relocated to Cape Cod after seven years on Nantucket, he brings with him a wealth of musical experience and a deep love for community music-making. While on Nantucket, Jeff served as Minister of Music at the First Congregational Church, ran a private voice studio, conducted a summer community festival choir, composed for local musicians, and enjoyed a wide variety of performance opportunities.
A self-proclaimed “musical omnivore,” Jeff is equally at home singing 16th-century counterpoint, playing piano for musical theatre, performing vocal jazz, or bringing a postlude to life on the organ. Late into the night, you might have found him channeling his inner pianoman at the Nantucket Summer House.
Jeff performs and records regularly with the New York–based ensemble The New Consort and has appeared on two Grammy-nominated recordings with The Crossing Choir of Philadelphia, PA. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN) and a Master of Music in Sacred Music and Conducting from Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ).
Beyond his musical pursuits, Jeff is passionate about cooking, skateboarding, film photography, and vintage vinyl—ask him about any of these, and you’ll have a friend for life.

Brian Miller is a guitarist and photographer currently living in Mattapoisett, MA. As an artist, Brian aims to spread positivity through music by learning and sharing with others.
Growing up on Cape Cod, Brian began learning guitar at the age of 12 from a teacher who took him under his wing. Together they studied music theory and jazz fusion.
Traveling and performing all over New England since the age of 18, Brian honed a diverse set of skills on the guitar. This wide variety of influences included rock, country, folk, bluegrass, indie, rockabilly, and more.
In 2020, after a 15-year residency in St. Augustine, Florida, Brian moved back to Massachusetts with his sights set on establishing himself in the music community once again.

I have more than 30 years of experience as a musician and 20 years as a teacher. I have a deep passion for music and have developed a versatile skill set. I have worked in various musical genres, including big band jazz, avant-garde, funk, reggae, rock, and country. I have collaborated with many bands and artists, both locally and internationally.
Touring has allowed me to share my music across the United States and in countries like Egypt, Cuba, and France. These experiences have broadened my musical perspective and enriched my ability to connect with diverse audiences through the universal language of music.
I have been fortunate to live in two of America’s most celebrated music cities: Memphis and New Orleans. The rich cultural landscapes of these cities have been a constant source of inspiration and have greatly influenced my artistic expression.
I firmly believe in the transformative power of music. It has a unique ability to evoke emotions, transcend boundaries, and bring people together. Through the universal language of music, I aim to create moments of connection and unity, allowing people from different backgrounds to share in the joy and beauty of music.
DAN BEHLMAN (FRI)

Dan Behlman is a Cape Cod-born guitarist, songwriter, and educator with a lifelong devotion to music. Raised amid the salt air and seaside rhythms of Massachusetts’ iconic peninsula, he honed his craft before heading to Boston, where he graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Business and Management.
Since 2006, he has taught guitar and Ukulele to a plethora of students of all ages and levels, blending Berklee-trained technique with real-world experience from years of live performance and studio work. Whether coaching beginners on their first chords or guiding advanced players through improvisation and theory, his patient, personalized approach has made him a trusted mentor across Cape Cod and beyond.
When he’s not teaching, you’ll find him writing original music, gigging at local venues, or collaborating with fellow artists—always rooted in the coastal inspiration that started it all.
JACK TURNBULL (Sat)
GUITAR, UKULELE, KEYS & BEGINNING PIANO
Jack Turnbull is an educator and artist who has been playing music since 1994. Over the years, he has toured and performed extensively in various settings, including playing with several punk bands such as People Live Here and Megalife. He has also performed with a barbershop quartet, with the longest-running stage magic show in human history, in summer camp musicals, church choirs, open mic nights, karaoke bars, and around summer beach bonfires. His performances have taken him to cities like Boston, New York City, and Rome, Italy. DIANE CALIRI
FLUTE
Diane holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University in flute performance and has been a freelance flutist and music educator on Cape Cod for over 30 years. She regularly performs in local concerts and as pit orchestra member for musicals, most recently at Cotuit Center for the Arts. She has taught masterclasses and led ensembles at several Cape Cod school districts and formerly served on the faculty at the Orleans Academy of Performing Arts School. She is currently principal flutist in the Cape Community Orchestra, is half of the flute and piano duo, Silver and Ivory, and is a member of the Boston Metropolitan Flute Orchestra.
